Here is a little group of five modern white metal buttons each with a simple geometric design on them. I do not know all the different metals but they are pewter like.
They are all approx 2 1/2cm in diameter and are charming in their simplicity.
I do not know what this cameo type button is made of. My guess is that it is a stone of some sort carved and set into white metal.
The lady’s head is very deep making a rather bulky button. What a lot of work has gone into the making of it. It measures 3 1/2 X 3 cms.
This white metal button is chunky and heavy. It is a domed shape and the design is flower like. It has a key shank and measures just under 3 cm.
This button which is quite large at 4 cm combines three materials.
The dark brown base is bakelite, the scrolly escutcheon is metal and the amber coloured block is glass. What a lovely and dramatic button.
It has a metal loop shank. The glass is bevelled and claw set and the escutcheon is riveted on as can be seen in the photo.
I think this is a beautiful button. It contains purple tinted metal with white metal.
The design is wonderful comprising scrolls and flowers. It is 3 1/2cm in diameter and has a brass loop shank.
At 3 1/2 cm in diameter, this button has a decorative floral white metal border encasing a black glass with gold lustre centre.
How ornate is that! The border is so intricate with pretty flowers and leaves and is a work of art on it’s own. No wonder I call old buttons miniature works of art. It has a brass loop shank.
I like these two buttons and have had the green one for a long time. It was nice to get the red one just recently.
They are concave painted wooden buttons with a white metal flower shaped escutcheon in the middle. I show the back also to reveal the brass shank attached. They measure 3 1/2 cm.
These two white metal buttons have pierced designs and are quite heavy.
They are pewter like in appearance but I am not up with the various metals. Both of them have a key shank.
Here are two old plastic buttons with a circle of speckled bright green surrounding a domed white centre. They have a small metal loop shank and are a little over 2 cm.
I do not know how old they are but would suggest that they are a similar age to the ones I have just posted yesterday. I think that they look smart.
