GLASS BUTTONS

Here is a group of pretty green and white striped glass buttons which were made in Czechoslovakia. I have just received them in the mail as a Raffle prize with the Victorian Button Collector’s Club. It was a great thrill to win them. They are quite small at a little over 1 cm and have a self shank.

WOODEN BUTTON

This is a beautifully designed wooden button with two Scottie dogs on a basketweave background. It is a pressed wood composition button made by Burwood Company in Michigan USA in the 1930’s. It is a sew through type and measures 3 1/2 cm.

BONE BUTTONS

Here are six modern bone buttons which have been carved in various designs. They have had paint applied and rubbed off leaving it in the crevices which gives a great effect. They measure 1 1/2 cm.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are nine diminutive glass buttons. They are a pretty blue colour with a geometric design etched and painted in gold. They have a self shank. I bought them in 2001, the year I started collecting buttons.

METAL PICTURE BUTTON

This is a nice metal picture button. It features a bird (possibly a pigeon) sitting on a fence. Leaves are trailed around the edge. It has a japanned back and metal loop shank.

BONE BUTTONS

Here are five modern bone buttons. They have simple geometric designs carved into them and have a rather rustic look about them. I guess they may have been made in Nepal.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are two clear glass buttons with gold lustre in an Art Nouveau design. They are two different sizes but the same design and have a four way metal box shank.

ENAMELLED BRASS BUTTONS

Here are three very different enamelled brass buttons. One is a pierced hexagon shape and has blue enamel. The round one has a floral design enamelled on it and the tiny square one also has a floral design. They make a nice group.

METAL PICTURE BUTTON

Here is a metal picture button which is quite ornate. It features a brass flower on an embossed painted background in a circle which is off centre. The crescent shaped space has a brass floral design over a white metal background. It measures just under 4 cm.

MODERN BUTTONS

Here is a group of four modern resin buttons depicting corn, eggplant, pumpkin and tomato. They would look good across the bib of an apron. I bought them in Tasmania in 2019 while on holidays. I was on the lookout for buttons all the while but didn’t find many.
