BLACK GLASS BUTTON

Here is a black glass imitation fabric button which is a little different to the other few that I have in my collection. It shows a pink flower and has a silky look about it. It also has a yellow tint behind the flower too. It measures a little over 2 1/2 cm.

ENAMEL BUTTON

This enamelled brass button is mainly in colours of purple, teal and pink. It has an intricate design and some cut away. It is quite different to many of the enamels both in design and colours that I have in my collection. At 3 1/2 cm it is quite large.

CELLULOID BUTTON

This large Celluloid button is a dirty green/brown with a buffed celluloid centre. The centre has a rather nice design on it. The back is japanned and it measures a little under 4 1/2 cm. I guess it would have been an overcoat button.

SATSUMA BUTTON

This Satsuma button is quite different to any others that I have as it is indefinite and smudgy in it’s design. I bought it because I loved the colours contrasting nicely with the gold background. Purple and orange are complimentary colours and the green just breaks them up. It measures 2 1/2 cm.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a metal (which looks a bit like pewter) button with a realistic floral border. It has a gold lustred black glass disc in the centre which also has a floral design. It is quite large at 3 1/2 cm. To me a silver lustre centre would have suited better than the gold.

FABRIC BUTTON

Here is another Fabric button made with black braid woven around a mould. It is very striking with a gold metal central disc which has been set with diamantes. It is a convex shape set into a white metal cup with a loop shank. I wonder what you would wear it on; something high class I imagine.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a brass button with a gold lustred black glass disc set in the rim. The design of the glass is quite dramatic but also delicate. This button is shown in The Big Book of Buttons. It measures 3 cm so is a rather nice size.

METAL BUTTON

This brass button has a delicate floral pattern etched into the border. The centre has been set with a white glass disc which shows a moulded flower design. It has a brass loop shank.

GLASS BUTTON

This is a Victorian glass button in a very delicate pale blue with a touch of pink in the flowers. It is sort of Art Nouveau in style. It has a metal four way box shank and measures a little under 2 1/2 cm.

BAKELITE BUTTON

Here is a large dark brown bakelite button with a decorative metal escutcheon. It is finished off with a white stone set in the centre. It has a brass loop shank and measures 4 cm. I guess it would have been an overcoat button.
