ENAMEL BUTTONS

Here are three enamelled brass buttons on their original card which I bought in a Patchwork shop in Loch, Victoria many years ago (maybe 20) They are by Susan Clarke, California, USA and I have seen pictures of her more recent buttons on the net and they are quite different. They have a good look about them.

METAL BUTTONS

I guess that these two metal buttons are of a similar age whatever that may be. The backs are the same with a humped sew through shank. They both have a floral design. They measure 2 cm.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a metal button in an Art Deco style. The raised dots have been painted in various colours and are still in a fairly good condition. It measures just over 2 cm.

METAL BUTTON

This brass button has a floral design and has been painted with bright orange, red, blue, yellow and green. It is sort of embossed and the colours are within the shapes. It has a loop shank and measures 2 1/2 cm.

METAL BUTTONS

Here are two groups of metal buttons which were given to me a couple of years ago. They are all old and well worn but still have an interesting look about them which I like. Several have been painted and two have fabric inserted in the middle. I am sure they would have been striking when they were new and could now tell a few tales.

METAL BUTTONS

Here are three metal buttons that I think are tin and painted white then decorated with colour. They are quite worn but still have a certain charm about them. The backmark is Tchscoslovaquie which I am guessing is Czechoslovakia.

BAKELITE BUTTONS

Here is a nice group of laminated bakelite buttons using different materials like wood and applejuice bakelite. They have a sort of art deco look about them. Two not being circular adds an extra bit of interest to the group. They have metal loop shanks.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

These three celluloid buttons are of the same design but different colours and sizes. They are quite simple in their design but very effective. They have a tin back with a sew through hump in the middle. I do not know the correct terminology for it.

MODERN BUTTON

Here is a modern beaded button in gold and iridescent blue with a geometric design. It is well made and has a black plastic back and shank and measures 3 cm.

METAL BUTTONS

These three brass buttons make quite a nice group with their paintwork mostly in blues. Two have a floral design while the other has filigree style work. The small square one is only 1 cm in diameter. They all have a loop shank.
