This is a beautifully designed buckle. The shape is very effective being a blunt ended diamond. There is a variety of size in the Diamentes which are claw set. It is so sparkly and does not show to real advantage.
PASTE BUCKLES
How about some buckles for a change again. I do like them and like buttons they can be little works of art too.
Here are three Paste ( or small facetted pieces of glass set in metal ) buckles. How they would glimmer in the light of an evening event on a ball gown or the like especially on a plain rich fabric.
SILVER BUCKLE
I believe this Art Nouveau buckle may have been a Nurse’s buckle from the early 1900’s in England. I have seen similar ones on Antiques Roadshow on T.V.
It is E.P.N.S. and backmarked E.G. Stott. The flowers appear to me to be fuschias. What a beautiful design. It is a large buckle being 9 cm. X 5 1/2 cm. I have had it many years, long before I started collecting buttons.
ART DECO BUCKLES
Art Deco is the period of these two buckles. One is black glass with a silver lustre and the other is pink glass set in white metal. Aren’t they lovely.
BUCKLES
I love buckles also and here we see a little group of black and white and orange plastic buckles. The brown ones have carved designs on them which I find interesting. The last group are Celluloid buckles from the 1930’s.
BUCKLES
Buckles are another interest of mine and I have a few really nice old ones and quite a few of the more common old plastic ones. I love thee look of these carved plastic buckles (or clasps). The colours are typical of the period (not so bright as today’s colours) I guess they come from the 1940’s and 50’s.
