These two celluloid buttons are in a mustard colour with orange and black in a geometric pattern. They have a japanned back which is common in this type of button. They are new to my collection and were given to me by a friend.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
Here is a happy trio of Buffed Celluloid buttons with a floral theme. They are cream and have been incised with the design then painted over with the colour which is then rubbed back. The colour only remains in the indentations and gives a showy effect. They have a self shank.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
Here is a pair of Celluloid buttons in Autumn colours with a touch of gold. They have a sort of geometric or abstract design. They are quite different to any other Celluloid buttons I have in my collection.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
This framed lot of buttons are Victorian Celluloids and all in beige or brown colours. Each one has a different fine metal design and they make a nice group to be displayed in the gold frame. I am rather fond of this type of button.
CELLULOID BUTTON
This Celluloid button was made by Marion Weeber from USA in the 1940s. It is the only one of her buttons I have and I love it. The colours are great and the fruit quite realistic. It has a celluloid shank and measures a little over 3 cm.
CELLULOID BUTTON
This Celluloid button is rather striking with it’s marbled centre in grey and black with a tinge of yellow. The black really stands out. It has a brass rope like border and as is common in many Celluloid buttons a japanned back. It measures just over 4 cm.
CELLULOID BUTTON
This Celluloid button is of a brownish green colour and has a nice buffed celluloid centre which livens it up. It is quite large at a little over 4 cm and has a japanned back and brass shank.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
Here is another group of six Celluloid buttons which I have displayed in a frame. They are typical colours of the 1930’s and 40’s and some of them have a real Art Deco look about them.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
Here is a group of six Celluloid buttons of various designs and sizes. They are all of earthy colours which were popular in the 1930’s and 40’s. They blend nicely together in the frame.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
Here are two Buffed Celluloid buttons featuring a bunch of grapes which are very realistic. They are two different colours, have a celluloid back and shank and measure a little over 2 cm.
