BUFFED CELLULOID BUTTONS

I love the bright colours of these buffed celluloid buttons.  They have a pressed design which has been painted.  It is then buffed back leaving paint only in the hollows.  It is a very effective method of making them.  They all have a typical celluloid shank.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Here are three Wafer Celluloid buttons all of the same colour and size.  They have two layers of different colours and the design is cut away to reveal the beige colour underneath.  They measure  3  1/2cm.

CELLULOID BUTTON

Here is an interesting Celluloid button in an Ochre type colour.  Many Celluloid buttons were earthy colours.  Maybe they were the colours of the 1930’s – 40’s period.

It is made of a moulded sheet of Celluloid and has no backing.  It is a sew through type button and measures 3  1/2  cm.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

These three Celluloid buttons are all small and fine.  One is green featuring toadstools.  One is clear celluloid in the shape of a flower with a painted floral centre.   The last one is blue with two flowers painted on.  They are completely different in design.

CELLULOID BUTTON

Here is a jazzy celluloid button in a fawn colour with a brown section with white spots.  It is not very big at approx 2  cm X  1  cm.  I think it would really enhance a garment in neutral or earthy colours.
