CUT STEEL BUTTONS

Here are two Cut Steel buttons which are quite different. One is of white metal with a three leaf design and four cut steels. The other is of brass with a star shape encircling a flower. It has six cut steels surrounding it. They both have a loop shank.

CUT STEEL BUTTON

This Cut Steel button has a floral theme. The flowers each have a cut steel in the centre which has been riveted in separately. They would twinkle nicely in the light. The button has a brass basket weave background which is a little different. It measures 3 cm.

CUT STEEL BUTTONS

This little group shows one large and two tiny cut steel buttons.

The cut steels are rivetted onto a backing plate and are rather flimsy.  They come from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

CUT STEEL BUTTON

Here is another cut steel button.  This button is very intricate being made of multi cut steels which are rivetted onto a brass back plate.

It would have graced some fancy garment in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s.

CUT STEEL BUTTON

Here is a brass cut work button combined with five cut steel around a central flower pattern with one large cut steel in the centre.

The cut steels are individually rivetted into the brass as can be seen on the back.  It is just over 3 cm.

CUT STEEL BUTTONS

These three buttons all have cut steels incorporated in their design.  The cut steels were made from old horseshoe nails.  Each of these buttons are nice in their own way.

One has a type of basketweave brass background with flowers and cut steels as centres.  The next is white metal with three leaves and four cut steels.  The last one has a star shape with a styalized  flower in the centre and six cut steels.
