All things buttons & more …
All of these buttons feature a head of some type.
They are all small being under 1 1/2cm in diameter and are mostly brass. One has a white metal head which is very finely detailed. I think some are from Roman or Greek Mythology. One is an Oriental lady and there is also a Harlequin.
Here are some more new additions to my collection.
Actually I bought a small private button collection in November, 2017 so have been having fun sorting and cleaning buttons. What a good hot weather occupation keeping indoors with the cooler!
These are all small metal buttons each with a different design. None are over 1 1/2cm in diameter.
This is another group of buttons being part of the private button collection which I purchased in November.
They are Victorian buttons made of metal with some tan fabric (suede or velvet) and a little cream celluloid included in the design. I feel that they are very nice buttons.
There are two different backs used, one being japanned with black paint, the other just showing the tin. They are just over 1 cm in diameter.
None of these buttons are over 1 1/2 cm in diameter.
They are all metal, some tinted and some with cut steels. The designs are all different and they make a nice group. They are a new addition to my collection.
Here are two realistic buttons, both being a leaf. One has an insect and the other a frog.
They are quite fascinating although I am not sure what type of garment they would be worn on.
This metal button is quite plain in design but I think rather elegant. I feel that the raised lady’s head in the middle is rather lovely. The reverse shows a thread back which is a little unusual on a metal button. It is a new acquisition to my collection.
