These four plastic buttons all have a cut out design; two different designs and two different colours. They are old buttons but how old I do not know.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
These three buttons were given to me recently and look like they are from the 1930’s – 40’s period. The contrasting stripes and colours really look great.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
This group of buttons are modern and I have collected them from opp shops over the years.
They combine coloured plastic with metalized plastic and are quite striking with the red, black and gold. They are two piece buttons and from the 1990’s onwards.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
Here are three groups pf buttons all with coloured plastic and metalized plastic which give quite a classy effect.
They are from the 1990’s onwards and are two piece buttons. I have so many of them and they are all different in colour and design.
PLASTIC (BEUTRON) BUTTONS
These plastic buttons were made for Beutron in the late 1960’s.
They are all sew through type and their colours are subtle compared to colours used today. They may be rather plain but the colours blended nicely or were a great contrast to the colours of the fabric of the day.
OLD PLASTIC BUTTONS
This group is just an odd lot of old plastic buttons of various age, designs and colour. I would love to be able to slot them into periods but I do not have the knowledge to do so.
PLASTIC SNAP TOGETHER BUTTONS
These modern plastic buttons have been around since the 1980’s.
As the name suggests, the top part of the button which has the shank snaps into the bottom piece which is a different colour. Many were imported from Japan, England and France. What a novelty they are and great for children’s clothes.
I have approximately 60 of these buttons sewn onto a banner and they are just a bit of fun and relevant to a period of fashion history.
The subject matters are many and varied and some that I show include busses and trains, elephants, penguins, cars, bears and beetles, just to name a few. What great buttons for children to collect and aren’t we all “big kids at heart!”
REALISTIC BUTTONS – BEATRIX POTTER
These Realistic buttons are of two of Beatrix Potter’s story book characters, namely Jemima Puddleduck and Peter Rabbit.
I also show the page from the story of Peter Rabbit with the illustration of the Robin on the Shovel Handle just as the button depicts. Isn’t that just fascinating; the wonderful world of buttons.
OLD PLASTIC BUTTONS
The first button is a deep rich red square button of some type of plastic. It is a little over 4 cm and has a brass loop shank. The colour is much richer in reality.
The second one is a chunky moulded type of plastic in a real water melon colour which is eye catching. It measures 3 1/2cm and I show the grooved sew through shank at the back.
I do not know the age of these buttons but they are both fascinating in their own way.
OLD PLASTIC BUTTONS
Here are three plastic buttons of similar size (being a little under 3 1/2cm) They also have the same back and shank style. There are many types of plastics but I am not up with them all so generalize them to play safe. I wonder if these buttons are from the 1950’s or 60’s. (purely a guess)
