PORCELAIN BUTTONS

Here are two Mack porcelain buttons that I have just acquired. They are transfer printed with a hand painted border and made in Stoke on Trent in England. One shows a squirrel and the other a yellow flower. I have a few others in my collection and they all have that flower like shape.

PORCELAIN BUTTON

This is a small hand painted porcelain button with a lady’s portrait. It is very delicately done and looks lovely in reality. It is quite domed and has a gold line around the edge. It measures 1 1/2 cm so is not very big.

PORCELAIN BUTTONS

Here is a group of four handmade porcelain buttons made by Tracey Sharkey in 2007. They feature a variety of flowers or part thereof which is sort of fascinating. I believe they are transfer printed. I have several sets of her buttons and have bought them at Art Galleries.

PORCELAIN BUTTONS

This little group of buttons have a certain charm. They were handmade by Jennifer Warburton from Phillip Island in 2012. The simple blue designs on the white background have an Oriental theme and remind me of the popular Willow pattern. They make a nice set.

PORCELAIN BUTTON

I have had this button for a long while and it is a favourite of mine. It has a delicate painting of a couple and you can even see the buttons on the man’s coat. It also has a decorative border of brass and enamel which makes for a lovely button.

PORCELAIN BUTTON

This Porcelain button is very colourful portraying two Oriental figures with sunshades.  I think it is transfer printed and comes from the mid 1800’s.  The detail is wonderful and makes for a very pleasing button.

PORCELAIN BUTTONS

These buttons were made in 2012 by Jennifer Warburton from Phillip Island, Victoria.  They each have a different pattern on them and I like their hand made look.  The colours are eye catching too.

PORCELAIN BUTTONS BY BIRCHCROFT

This group of Beatrix Potter buttons are porcelain and were made by Birchcroft of England.

I enjoy Beatrix Potter’s artwork and it is fun to have these buttons.  I have read her life story and saw the film Miss Potter which was a great combination of real life and animation which I found most clever and fascinating.

The first button shows Beatrix herself and the other three are Hunca Munca,  Samuel Whiskers and Mrs Tiggy Winkle.  I also show the reverse with the Birchcroft Backmark.

HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN BUTTON

I think this button has a good look about it.

The details of the couple painted in the centre are very fine, even down to the buttons on the man’s coat.  It has a lovely enamelled brass border to set it off and a brass back and loop shank.  It measures 3  1/2 cm.
