My friend Julie made these two buttons and gave them as a birthday present. What a nice gift for someone who collects buttons and has been a sewer.
DISNEY BUTTONS
These buttons were made in Taiwan and China and packaged in USA for “Dress It Up” Buttons.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse are very popular Disney cartoon characters and there are three buttons in each pack all in a different pose. How cute are they! I bought them in 2016 and was thrilled to get them. They are of plastic in a snap together style. I have shown the back view of Mickey.
MODERN DOMED BUTTONS
No. 1 shows a lady dressed in 1930’s – 40’s dress and is nice and colourful.
No. 2 is in black and white featuring the rabbit from “Alice in Wonderland.”
No. 3 pictures a cat with a blue bow. I show a reverse picture also.
PLASTER BUTTONS
Here is an interesting group of five buttons each with a different design. They are all rather chunky being made from plaster and have a nice high golden glaze which makes them look special.
CAMEO TYPE BUTTON
I do not know what this cameo type button is made of. My guess is that it is a stone of some sort carved and set into white metal.
The lady’s head is very deep making a rather bulky button. What a lot of work has gone into the making of it. It measures 3 1/2 X 3 cms.
BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS
Here are two matte finished plastic buttons featuring characters from the story books of Beatrix from the early 1900’s. They are reproductioins both made in 1989.
One is Peter Rabbit running and the other is Hunca Munca with babies. The third button is from 1993 and a different style to the others being in base relief. It measures a little under 2 cm. and pictures Jemima Puddle Duck.
BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS
Beatrix Potter the English Children’s story writer had lots of different characters in her books, many based on animals and pets she had as a child. I have many buttons featuring these characters.
Here I show six buttons produced between 1989 and 1993 made of plastic. They all have a glossy surface and are 17 mm in diameter.
BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS
Beatrix Potter was a famous English writer of Children’s story books.
She was born in 1866 and died in 1943. Her very first book was about Peter Rabbit. She was a very talented artist in both nature and landscapes as well as her colourful little characters. I am a lover of her work.
Here I show a group of twelve buttons depicting the characters from her story books. They are matte finish plastic buttons all being 1 1/2 cm in diameter and were produced between 1977 and 1979.
I also show two individual buttons namely Benjamin Bunny with Tam and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle.
OLD BUTTONS
Here are two very different chunky buttons. One is a coppery colour. It tapers up from the bottom and is then sunken down into the middle to show a swirly pattern. The outside has a linear design engraved on it. It is of some type of plastic I think and has a brass loop shank.
The other has a cream pearly centre with a gold coloured scrolly outer fitted over the shape. It has a metal shank and is rather unusual.
BRASS AND MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTON
What an unusual button this is. It has a brass base into which a MOP disc has been set. A heart shape pattern is made in brass then being set with red and clear stones. The shell and “gemstones” give it a regal look.
It is just over 3 cm in diameter.
