HAND PAINTED GLASS BUTTONS

These three glass buttons seem to have a Japanese influence in the design painted on them with writing symbols too.

They really took my fancy with their bright colours.  They have a metal four way box shank and measure just under 1  1/2cm.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

What a cute group of Nursery Rhyme buttons made in 1996 by Blumenthal & Co. in USA.

They are made of polyester and are backmarked  B/L 96.

Pictured are :  Little Miss Muffet,  Jack Be Nimble,  Humpty Dumpty and two from Hey Diddle Diddle.

BEADED BUTTON

This lovely bright beaded button was made by Helen Pappas, Australia in 2017.

Blue and orange always strike a note and it jumped out at me from the other ones in the display box.  The geometric design is nice too. It is a little under 3  1/2cm.

HORN BUTTON

This horn button is moulded or pressed to achieve the lovely dog’s head in relief.  It has a metal loop shank fitted into the back and is 2  1/2 cm.

POTTERY BUTTONS

Marie Gardner produced these buttons at her pottery studio in Sydney, Australia during the 1940’s.

There are several designs and colour combinations in this group and they have a lovely high glaze.  What a nice picture they make.

CELLULOID BUTTON – BY MARION WEEBER

This is a very recent acquisition to add to my collection.  (Actually I only got it yesterday! ) I was so thrilled to get it as I have only seen them in books.

I love both the design and colours and it is bigger than I expected at 3  1/4 cm. Actually the colours are nicer than the photo portrays.

Marion Weeber from USA produced many Celluloid buttons in the 1940’s, lots with fruit and flower designs, so this is a typical example.

FABRIC BUTTONS

Here is a nice group of modern fabric buttons.

They all have a black velvet background and various designs done with pearls, beads and sequins.  Gold and silver thread has also been incorporated in their design.

I think they look very regal and  I know that they were quite dear when I bought them new in the shops about 10 – 12 years ago.
