PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here are three groups of old plastic buttons being striped, spotted and speckled.

They have a fresh look about them, some with black edges and some with white and all have plastic shanks.  I find them rather nice and they would look good on a simple cotton dress.

METAL BUTTON

This brass button has been painted with various colours in a dotted manner.

The paintwork is still in fairly good order which is a plus.  It is approximately 2  1/2  cm in diameter.

OLD PLASTIC BUTTONS

The colour of these buttons is a soft olive green.  They are simple in design with bevelled edges and a sort of chiselled out area.  I also show the back with their thread groove and self shank.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

This group of five plastic buttons are reasonably modern being all different colours with a white centre.

They are a little under 3cm. and have a plastic shank.  It is nice to find sets of buttons of the same design but different colour combinations  (as I have said before ).  I wonder how many were made of this type.  That makes the chase so much fun when you come across a matching button or whatever.

I bought the doyley recently at the opp shop in town as I thought it would make a nice backing for my button photos and I think it is ideal in this situation.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here we have three different lots of multi coloured buttons made of a plastic of some sort ( maybe casein )

Two are red, white and blue while the domed ones are red, white and black.  They are layered as can be seen in the photo.  I think that they are very eye catching.

HELLO THERE!!

I am still alive and kicking but have been most unwell for a few weeks and not able to do my daily post which I have missed, however I am on the way up again and look forward to my button photography and chatting on the laptop.  That is what it is for, recording lovely buttons and sharing them with someone else while also helping me to be in touch with people.  Maybe my website might encourage someone else to start collecting buttons and get the same pleasure that I do from the search and in getting some nice ones and also meeting people with similar interests.  They are all plusses.

So I have just posted another Beatrix Potter post and will do a different one next time.  I just wanted to say that I am on the air again.

BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS

Here are two matte finished plastic buttons featuring characters from the story books of Beatrix from the early 1900’s.  They are reproductioins both made in 1989.

One is Peter Rabbit running and the other is Hunca Munca with babies.  The third button is from 1993 and a different style to the others being in base relief.  It measures a little under 2 cm. and pictures Jemima Puddle Duck.

BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS

Beatrix Potter the English Children’s story writer had lots of different characters in her books, many based on animals and pets she had as a child.  I have many buttons featuring these characters.

Here I show six buttons produced between 1989 and 1993 made of plastic.  They all have a glossy surface and are 17 mm in diameter.

BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS

Beatrix Potter was a famous English writer of Children’s story books.

She was born in 1866 and died in 1943.  Her very first book was about Peter Rabbit.  She was a very talented artist in both nature and landscapes as well as her colourful little characters.  I am a lover of her work.

Here I show a group of twelve buttons depicting the characters from her story books.  They are matte finish plastic buttons all being 1  1/2  cm in diameter and were produced between 1977 and 1979.

I also show two individual buttons namely Benjamin Bunny with Tam and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle.

BLACK GLASS BUTTONS

These buttons both have a head incised into the glass.

One is plain while the other one has a fancy border.  They both have a metal loop shank and are just a little over 1 cm in diameter.  They were part of a small private button collection that I bought in November, 2017.
