NEW BUTTON

This button comes from China and is really glitzy.

It has chocolate brown enamel work with amber paste stones in a swirly line and a large stone in the centre.  It is a highly domed button and the back is rather different too.  It measures 3  1/2cm in diameter so is quite big.

GLASS BUTTON

Here is a red glass button of 2  1/2cm in diameter.

It has a beautiful design of two flowers in an oblong shape with an arc of silver lustre lines to one side.  It has a sort of Art Deco feel about it.  I often think of who must have designed all the thousands of buttons that are available.  I think this one is really effective but it doesn’t show it at it’s best in the photo.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here are six cream coloured pressed plastic buttons from the 1930’s.

They each have a different design pressed into them and are nice in their individual way.  All the different designs intrigue me.

PLASTIC BUTTONS AND BUCKLE

This card shows some pressed plastic buttons in a mauvy/pink colour which was popular in the 1930’s – 40’s.

There is also a buckle in a matching colour.  Many of this type of button were made in various colours (usually  subtle) during that period.

LEATHER BUTTONS

These four leather buttons are modern and all have stitching around them.

The square ones are just a little different.  Three are sew through type with eyelet trim while the other one has a metal loop shank.  They are quite large at 3 cm.
