This button is brass with a MOP central disc upon which is a brass Egyptian head. It is rather intriguing. It has a brass back and loop shank.
FABRIC AND BRASS BUTTON
I find this button fascinating. It has a fabric covered outer section with a brass centre showing an Indian’s head. The back is interesting too. Most fabric covered buttons are made with a pad shank.
CELLULOID BUTTON
This Celluloid button is made up of a little group of flowers which are painted in delicate pastel shades. It has a Celluloid shank.
NEW BUTTONS
These two buttons are both very pretty but the photos do not do them justice. They both have a posy of flowers, one on a cream back and the other on black. They measure a little under 2cm.
GLASS BUTTONS
These are the first Kaleidescope buttons for my collection. They are of glass with varying colours and have a metal backplate and loop shank. They are only about 1 1/4 cm in diameter.
METAL BUTTON
This brass button is a little different being open work and square shaped. It has a brass loop shank and measures just over 2 cm. It is new to my collection.
NEW BUTTON
Here is a plastic button with a tin centre which has a geometric design pressed into and painted on it. I think the colours are very complimentary. It is a showy button and measures 4 cm.
APPLEJUICE BAKELITE BUTTONS
Here are two different Applejuice Bakelite buttons both being about 3 1/2 cm in diameter.
They have both been carved, one on the reverse side with paint added. The sew through one is a little darker. They are the colour of applejuice hence the name.
BUFFED CELLULOID BUTTONS
I love the bright colours of these buffed celluloid buttons. They have a pressed design which has been painted. It is then buffed back leaving paint only in the hollows. It is a very effective method of making them. They all have a typical celluloid shank.
METAL PICTURE BUTTON
The orange plastic disc really offsets this Brass Picture button. I do not think it is originally part of the button but that is how I bought it. It features an Oriental lady with a fan, cherry blossom and some Japanese symbols.
The overall diameter is 6 cm. I bought it at The Buttonfest held in Melbourne recently.
