My friend Olwyn bought these two buttons in 2013 while on holidays in England. I think she got them at a craft fair. They are quite different. They appear to be stamped out of the leather.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
These buttons are sorted into colour schemes and are mainly “oldish” plastic buttons gathered over the years. They are not important enough to mount on cards but all fit into a fashion era of some time. I just keep them in bottles.
METAL BUTTONS
These two buttons are made of tin. The design is quite pretty being flower like. They are sew through type and measure a little over 1 1/2 cm.
PORCELAIN BUTTONS
These buttons were made in 2012 by Jennifer Warburton from Phillip Island, Victoria. They each have a different pattern on them and I like their hand made look. The colours are eye catching too.
METAL BUTTONS
Here are two more metal buttons measuring 2 1/2 cm. Once more they are interesting designs which fascinate me. They both have a metal loop shank.
METAL BUTTON
This button is made of a white metal and is quite modern. It has an arty/crafty look about it. The pearlized plastic centre goes through to the back forming a shank. It measures 3 1/2 cm.
METAL BUTTONS
These two brass buttons are similar in size at just under 2 1/2 cm.
They are both lovely swirly designs. One is a more domed shape and the other has a white metal liner showing through the cut out border.
ANTLER BUTTON
This button is rather crudely made and might I suggest handmade.
It has not been highly polished and has a real natural look and feel to it. Wouldn’t it look great on a handwoven merino wool jacket.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
Three more pressed plastic buttons are shown here. They have been painted, two featuring a basket of flowers while the middle one is a realistic pot of flowers. They are from the 1930’s – 40’s period.
