Here are two groups of Paste buttons with various shapes and sizes. One button incorporates pearls as well as the glass. Some are set in gold and some in silver metal.
GLASS AND METAL BUTTON
This button has a disc of black glass with a floral design impressed into it and gold lustre added. It has been set into a floral border of white metal and is quite different.
NEEDLECASE
This needlecase is colourful and by the note inside it was made in the 1930’s. It is nice to still have the note which is written in ink. It was made in England as many in a similar style were done back then.
PASTE BUTTONS
Here are two different paste buttons, one having clear glass set in white metal in a star shape. The other has clear and blue glass and has been claw set.
PERSPEX BUTTON
Being square, this button is a little bit different. The centre is a metalized plastic rose which has been used as a button in itself over the years. It also has a bevelled edge. I guess it would have been used as a coat button.
TWO MATERIALS BUTTONS
Most of these buttons are plastic with a metal or metalized plastic centre. They are of various designs and sizes.
PERSPEX AND METAL BUTTONS
Here are three more clear perspex buttons with a metal disc in the centre. One has a cut out disc, one a pressed floral design and the other a horse and rider also pressed into the metal. They are all 3 1/2 cm.
CERAMIC BUTTONS
Here is a group of Realistic Ceramic buttons. They feature animals, fruit and vegetables and are very colourful. They are new to my collection.
PERSPEX BUTTONS
These clear Perspex buttons have a metalized plastic rose as the centrepiece. One has the back painted gold which gives it a different look.
CHINA BUTTONS ON CARDS
On 1st November I posted these China face buttons as I had just purchased them.
I have now sewn them onto reproduction postcards from the early 1900’s as was done back then. One says “I’ll soon be with you” and the other “My Kingdom for a man”. I could not print them direct so had to photograph my ipad screen hence the discolouration. They are rather quaint and just a bit of fun.
