This dark brown Bakelite button has a white metal escucheon in an Art Nouveau style. The flowers and swirly lines are very effective I think. It measures 4 cm so is quite large.
PERSPEX BUTTON
Here is another clear perspex button with a cut away pattern on the back which is very effective. It has a metal loop shank.
DRAWING JOURNAL
Here are some more sketches from my drawing journal. They are a variety of subject matter but all interesting.
GIPPSLAND HOLIDAY
At present I am on holidays in Gippsland with my friend Margaret. The other day we went for a drive to Noojee in West Gippsland. We stopped off at Noojee Trestle Bridge nearby. It was lovely in the bush surrounded by gum trees and tree ferns. The bridge was so tall and was built in the early 1900’s.
PORCELAIN MINIATURE
We have just had our little local Button Group Xmas wind up for this year where we exchange a button or button related item.
This little Porcelain miniature was my gift. It is a little English Button Shop and was made by Birchcroft of England. I have some porcelain buttons also made by them.
PORCELAIN BUTTON
This Porcelain button is very colourful portraying two Oriental figures with sunshades. I think it is transfer printed and comes from the mid 1800’s. The detail is wonderful and makes for a very pleasing button.
CELLULOID BACK BUTTONS
One of these Celluloid back buttons is black and fawn with a decorative metal border. The other is brown with a central disc of metal. It also has a decorative border. They are both nice in their own way.
METAL BUTTONS
These two painted brass buttons are both in a maroon colour. One has three leaves pressed into it and the other has a flower and some swirly lines. They are a similar size at a little over 2 cm.
LITHOGRAPH BUTTON
I like this button of a dog and it’s colours. It is a little damaged but I got it cheap so was pleased to have it as I didn’t have any Lithographs at the time. I do not know if it originally had a clear celluloid over it or not. It measures just over 3 cm.
PORCELAIN BUTTON
Here is a porcelain button from the 1800’s with a very intricate design of an Oriental lady with a fan. It has a self shank.
