This button also has a purple stone in the centre. I do love purple. The brass has been very decoratively pressed with a pleasing design both in the centre and the border. The cut outs add to the design. It measures a little over 4 cm.

I think purple is a very Regal colour and the stone set in the centre of this button compliments the decorative circle around it. It has a Fleur de lys type border and overall is a nice button.
The stone in the centre of this Gay Nineties button is a pretty Emerald green. The button is made of pressed brass and has a cut out design which is rather effective. The border is perfectly plain.
Here is a little group of white glass buttons. They are mostly moulded with cherries, flowers and a dog design. They have been painted but a lot of the paint has worn off which is often the case. They would be really nice in pristine condition.
These two buttons are completely made up of Cut Steels. The first one is more open than the other swirly designed one. You can see in the back view where the steels are rivetted onto a metal back plate.
The square purple stone in the centre of this button contrasts nicely with the gold surround. It has a very decorative border and a Japanned back ( tin coated with layers of black paint ) It comes from the 1890’s period (hence the name) and measures 4 cm. so is quite large.
This brass button has a lot of open work and six cut steels incorporated into the design. The cut steels are made from old Horseshoe nails. They are certainly well polished up. You can see where they are rivetted into the back of the button.
This sample card of buttons is by Nanki Trading Corp, Osaka, Japan and I have just obtained it. It has no date marked on it unfortunately. They are a variety of plastic buttons, some being Realistic. Actually there are three pages but the computer won’t allow me to upload three vertical photos in a row at present unless there is some sneaky way to do it!!!! I am still learning this new programme ( I think)
These two Sterling Silver buttons were a Xmas gift from my friend Di who made them. She is learning Silversmithing. They have a small loop shank. I was really thrilled to receive them. They measure 1 1/2 cm.
Made of white metal, this button has many glass stones in various colours and sizes. To me it looks sort of Regal. On the back is written GESETZLICH and GESCHUTZT which translates as Protected. That means it has a sort of Patent applied to it. It measures 4 cm in diameter.
