QUANDONG BUTTON

This button is made from a Quandong nut which is from a native tree of Australia. I have seen a commercially made button but this one was made by a friend. It is rather unique.

BAKELITE BUTTON

Here is a nicely carved Bakelite button in a deep brown which was a popular colour for this type of button (black also) It is quite large at 4 cm and has a metal loop shank.

PLASTIC BUTTON

This plastic button is rather large at 4 cm. It is a mottley blue/grey and features two circular indentations and incised straight lines at top and bottom. I guess it would have been an overcoat button.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a white metal button featuring a head ( maybe Roman ) It is quite a well made button and has a loop shank and measures just on 2 cm.

DENIM JACKET

LOIS jeans was established in 1962 in Valencia, Spain and is still running. I guess the bull on the logo is symbollic of Spanish bull fighters so very apt. My button friend Joyce bought this LOIS brand denim jacket at an opp shop recently while on holidays. As my name is Lois she gave it to me for my button collection. To me it is amazing and a bit of fun.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

These buttons are new and were given to me recently by my friend Pam. They are large at 3 1/2cm and a brilliant colour with an abstract design. They are sew through type.

BUTTON GROUP

Our little Button Collector’s group had our get together last Friday. Our topic was painted wooden buttons and we had a nice variety. Here I show just a few of them.

METAL BUTTON

This button features a head looking a Roman soldier. It also has a decorative border etched on it. I find buttons with heads on them interesting and it would always be good to know who they represent. This one has a different shank too.

PLASTIC BUTTON

This is a British Butterscotch Plastic button and is quite different in colour, design and shape. You can see on the back holes made by air escaping during the moulding process. It measures 3cm x 2 1/2 cm.

ANTIQUE PURSE

I bought this little purse at an Antique Fair many years ago as I couldn’t resist the temptation!!! It is really lovely and made of tan suede leather with a decorative brass trim and a small Lithograph portrait in a brass mount just to finish it off. It measures 4 1/2 cm X 5 1/2 cm so is quite small.
