METALIZED PLASTIC BUTTON

Here is a “Head” button. It is a coinlike button with IMPCAESMSEVALEXANDERAVG printed around it. Severus Alexander (AD 222-235) was a Roman Emperor and the last Emperor of the Severan Dynasty. This button is modern and measures 2 1/2 cm.

NEW BUTTON

This button is just a simply made plastic one but the leafy design in black on white is effective. It measures just over 2 cm and has a self shank. I often wonder who makes up all thee different button designs.

NEW BUTTON

This is another simply made plastic button that I bought last week. The abstract design in royal blue is effective and just a little bit different. It has a self shank and measures 2 cm. It would look really nice on a royal blue fabric, plain or patterned.

PAINTED WOODEN BUTTONS

I belong to a small Button Collector’s Group who meet once a month at each other’s homes. We always have a challenge with a set topic. This month it is painted wooden buttons and this is my selection. It is always interesting to see what each member brings and surprisingly we don’t often have many double ups.

NEW BUTTON

Here is another new purchase from Lincraft. I buy just a few new buttons for my collection just to represent the period in time. This one is rather striking in black plastic with a modern designed silver coloured cut out centre piece. It would enhance a black outfit I think.

NEW BUTTON

I had a discount voucher for Lincraft for $10 so bought a few buttons. This one is quite dramatic with it’s pearl like inclusions in the design complimented with some gold linework. It will be a nice antique of the future. It measures 2 1/2 cm.

BUTTONS AND BUCKLES MEDLEY

Here we have six groups featuring buttons and buckles of various types. Also included are a needle case, a cake of soap, button hooks, studs, a thimble, a brooch and a packet of needles just for variety. They are just a fun group.

METALIZED PLASTIC BUTTON

Here is a modern metalized plastic button with three “plastic gemstones” in the centre. It is of a scrolly design, with a self shank and measures 3 cm. It is another opp shop find and comes from the 1990’s – 2000 period.

VICTORIAN GLASS BUTTON

Here is another Victorian Glass button. It is white glass and has a delicate design of diamond shapes and tiny flowers. It is a moulded button and has a metal loop shank. The paint work is rather worn as shown by it’s age.

METAL AND FABRIC BUTTONS

These small buttons at 1 1/4cm are really pretty but do not photograph well. They are a white metal which has a flower border painted in purple and white. The central part is purple velvet material. They have a metal loop shank. I guess they may be from the early 1900’s.
