Here are three modern large coconut shell buttons at just under 4 1/2 cm. They have an at random cut out design and are sew through type. They were part of a Xmas present from my nephew which was a nice surprise.
MODERN BUTTONS
These three buttons were given to me for Xmas by my friend Di. I believe they may be Horn and two have a circle of bone embedded in the centre. They each have some carving on them and are quite large at 3 1/2 cm and 4 cm.
NOVELTY BUTTON COVERS
We have just had Christmas and here are two button covers depicting Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. They are made to clip onto a plain button thus dressing it up. These ones are of course just a bit of fun.
METAL PICTURE BUTTON
This metal picture button features a basket of fruit and flowers. It has a rope like border finishing it off. It measures 3 1/4 cm and has a metal loop shank.
METAL AND FABRIC BUTTON
This button is a combination of painted metal and a grey woollen fabric. It has a tin back and pad shank and measures just under 3 cm.
PIN CUSHIONS
These two cross stitch pincushions are bought ones and are just pretty in their colours and design. I especially like the cup and saucer one and the lavender one is simple in design. They are both stitched in wool.
PLASTIC BUTTON
This is a modern plastic button measuring 3 1/2 cm. It has been chiselled away giving it a rough look. An oval shape has been hollowed out in the centre. It is quite chunky and is a sew through type.
BLACK GLASS BUTTON
This black glass button is simple in design but quite nice. The white around the edge is a good contrast. I feel that black and white is always rather showy.
METAL BUTTON
This is a modern white metal button with an unusual design representing what I do not know. It is quite striking just the same with the black paint filling in the hollows. It has a self shank.
PLASTIC BUTTON
Here is a pressed plastic button from the 1930’s. It has lines radiating out at the top which gives it a pleasing look and is a sew through type. It is a sort of brown/maroon colour.
