DIAMENTE BUTTONS

These buttons are dome shaped and covered with black diamentes. They glisten in the light. They were purchased in China in 2013.

METAL BUTTONS

Here are two tin buttons with a sort of geometric design. They both have pierced work incorporated in their design. They both also have a tin back

FABRIC BUTTONS

These two buttons are covered with Japanese fabric. Their colours are lovely and well blended. I bought them at a market in 2018.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a painted Metal button which is embossed with a floral pattern. It is cream and brown and very showy. It has a loop shank and measures a little over 3 cm.

WOODEN BUTTONS

Here are two wooden buttons of the same design but different colours. They are concave shape with a metal flower shaped escutcheon in the centre. They measure 3 1/2 cm. I guess they would have been an overcoat button.

BAKELITE BUTTON

Here is a dark brown carved bakelite button with an embossed brass disc in the centre. It is quite effective and has a brass loop shank. It measures 4 cm.

LACY GLASS BUTTON

Here is a Lacy Glass button. They are very expensive if in mint order but many are paint worn. It is of clear moulded glass with a diamond like design. The coloured paint is applied to the back and it then has a final coat of silver paint. This shows through to the front giving a very showy effect. I have not seen many but have seen some lovely ones in button books. I really like them.

CERAMIC BUTTONS

These two buttons are colourful with their high gloss glaze. They resemble Incomparable buttons made in Sth. Africa but I am not sure if that is what they are. They are sew through type and measure just over 3 cm.

GLASS BUTTONS

These two buttons were made in Czechoslovakia and I bought them in 2009. They are really nice with a gold lustre flower in the centre and a leaf in each corner. Being square makes them a little different. They have a brass loop shank. and are nicer than the photo depicts.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a brass picture button featuring an Oriental lady in her kimono and holding a fan. It is quite large at 3 1/2 cm. When I bought it it was mounted on this orange plastic disc which sets it off nicely, so I have left it so.
