FABRIC BUTTONS

These fabric buttons are made by women of Cambodia so it is good to support them. The fabrics are quite different to ours which makes them interesting.

PARIS BACKS BUTTONS

These three brass buttons have nice designs mainly floral. . They are all Paris backs, that is they have backmarks stating that they were made in Paris. One example is T.W. & W. , HM, Paris, Brevete. They all measure 1 1/2 cm so are not very big.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

I like these pressed plastics of the 1930s. I love their subtle colours and the simple patterns that are pressed into them. The colours of todays buttons are much stronger and brighter.

COCONUT SHELL BUTTONS

Here is a group of modern coconut shell buttons which make a colourful display. Some are painted, dyed or enamelled. The large green one has been laser cut in a floral design. They are various sizes and all are sew through type.

NOVELTY BUTTONS

Here are some realistic Minnie and Mickey Mouse buttons. They are made of plastic. Each set has three different poses which are quite cute. I bought them in 2016 and they are just a bit of fun being Walt Disney characters.

DIAMENTE BUTTONS

I am not into glitzy things and these buttons are certainly that. They are part of a button collection I bought about 3 years ago. Isabel bought these buttons in China in 2013 and there are quite a few of them. They are diamentes set in white and gold metal and are reasonable size. There are pearls incorporated in some too. The one is quite large at 5 cm.

METAL BUTTON

Here is another metal picture button in brass. It shows an Oriental lady with a sunshade in front of a pagoda. It is fairly plain with no decorative border. It has a metal loop shank and measures just over 3 cm.

METAL PICTURE BUTTON

Here is a metal picture button with a wooden background. I also have the same button with a black velvet background. It shows a bird with a sprig of flowers and leaves. It has a rather decorative border and measures a little over 3 1/2 cm.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are two moulded glass buttons one of which has been painted red on the back which shows through to the front. They both have been painted black on the back and have gold lustre designs on the front. I think they are modern Czechoslovakian buttons.

METAL BUTTONS

These two metal buttons have a realistic look both with a leaf. One has a frog on it and the other one an insect. Who knows what type of garment would be suitable for these buttons!
