GLASS BUTTONS

I love the colour purple and this little group of mauve glass buttons is no exception. They are not as common as red, green, blue etc. The designs are all different, a couple being geometric. Only one is a sew through type, the others having a self shank.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are two Studio Glass buttons made by Yasmin Silvan. They are Lamp glass work and both white and sew through type. It is fascinating to watch someone work with glass over a flame. They are quite a nice size at 3 1/2 cm.

METAL BUTTON

I really like this button and can only imagine what it would look like if the paintwork was not so worn. The design is lovely with all it’s scrolls and raised centre. As it is it really looks old and I guess from the early 1900s. At 3 cm in diameter it is a nice size too.

CELLULOID BUTTON

Here is a moulded celluloid button in the form of a bunch of flowers. It is in pastel shades of pink, aqua and yellow and has a plain back with a self loop shank. It measures just under 2 1/2 cm.

FABRIC BUTTONS

I have just finished making these counted cross stitch tartan buttons in the last few weeks. They nearly sent me cross eyed but after many hours I got them done. They were done on 18 count aida cloth with 2 strands of DMC thread. They will now join my other handmade buttons in my collection.
