NOVELTY BUTTONS

These two little imps have a cheeky look about them and make quaint buttons. They are not very functional but more for a craft project, e.g. a child’s library bag.

WOODEN BUTTON

This wooden button has a self shank. It has a colourful geometric design painted on it and would look nice on the right fabric. It is a modern button.

BONE BUTTON

This is a tinted and carved button made from bone. It has a rustic look about it and was made in Nepal. It is modern and measures 3 1/2cm.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Here are two different Celluloid buttons, one being a maroon colour. The other one is dark brown with a painted decoration in red with a touch of yellow. It is quite showy.

BLACK GLASS BUTTON

This black glass button is just over 1 1/2cm in diameter. It is decorated with a dotty pattern in silver lustre and has a self shank.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

These three buttons are made from Pearlized plastic and are quite flimsy. They are in a type of scrolly cut out pattern. I can see them on a hand knitted pastel coloured cardigan. Maybe from the 1950’s?

METAL BUTTON

Here is a modern white metal button measuring 3 cm. It has a cut out design with flowers and leaves.

METAL BUTTON

This brass button has been tinted in a red colour. It has a maple leaf in the centre which stands out nicely.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here is a small group of old plastic buttons displayed in a modern frame. They are varying shades of green and different sizes and make quite a nice display.

HORN BUTTON

This is a button made of black horn. It is a Uniform button of The Royal Ulster Rifles 1920 – 1968. It features a harp and crown and has a brass loop shank.
