Here are two Victorian Celluloid buttons. The metal on both has been tinted purple and the background Celluloid is in brown shades which is an unusual combination of colours. They have a japanned back with metal loop shank and measure 3 1/2 cm.

All things buttons & more …
One of these Celluloid back buttons is black and fawn with a decorative metal border. The other is brown with a central disc of metal. It also has a decorative border. They are both nice in their own way.
I think this group of seven Celluloid Back buttons are lovely.
In each case the Celluloid is of a fawny/cream colour. The designs are many and varied all being very effective. The smallest one is 2 cm and the largest three are 3 cm. I love them all and they look great together in the little display box made by my brother.
This button is of mottled brown Celluloid with cut steels in the centre.
It has a silver inner rim and a dotted brass border. At just over 3 1/2cm it is quite large.
Two of these Celluloid Back Buttons are 3 cm while the one with the fancy border is just under 4 cm.
They are all very decorative in their design. A lot of these type of buttons are in shades of brown, fawn and ochre.
These buttons are all in a creamy/tan colour and make a nice group. They are all good designs with some nice filigree work. I do like celluloid backs. They are probably from the early 1900’s.
