NEW BUTTONS

Here are a group of buttons bought new at a market in Bangkok, Thailand in 2014. I was on holidays with my nephew and family. Apart from the two little ones they all have a diamante trim. I guess they may have been made in Thailand. The black and white makes a nice display.

NEW BUTTONS

Here is my stash of black buttons which have been bought new over the last say 15years. I do not buy so many these days but used to quite regularly go to the haberdashery store and check out their buttons. You could just buy one from a tube. Nowadays at Spotlight they have packs of 2 or 4 and you have to buy the pack and they are expensive now. These are a variety of materials and designs. I visit a friend each Saturday morning and take buttons to show her. She loves to study their designs and really enjoys them which makes me feel good too. I have quite a nice collection of “new” buttons and keep them in a special set of drawers.

NEW BUTTONS

These buttons have been bought new in haberdashery stores during the period 2005 – 2020. They are mainly in the beige and brown tones and are of some type of plastic. Some are sew through while others have shanks. They are very collectable and represent the fashions of this period.

NEW BUTTONS

These two buttons are both very pretty but the photos do not do them justice.  They both have a posy of flowers, one on a cream back and the other on black.  They measure a little under 2cm.

NEW BUTTON

Here is a plastic button with a tin centre which has a geometric design pressed into and painted on it.  I think the colours are very complimentary.  It is a showy button and measures 4 cm.

NEW BUTTONS

My friend Olwyn does lots of Overseas travelling and over the years has brought back buttons from various countries.

These buttons were bought in Burma ( now Mynemar ) in 2011.  The first group were bought in Mandalay and the second group at Rangoon ( now Yangon )

They are new and were possibly made in China but it is nice to think that they have been bought in Burma and brought home especially for me.  They are of various materials.

NEW BUTTON

This button is from China and I think is made of resin.  There are lots of sparkly “bits” set inside it.  It is a large button at just over 3  1/2  cm.

NEW BUTTON

This button comes from China and is really glitzy.

It has chocolate brown enamel work with amber paste stones in a swirly line and a large stone in the centre.  It is a highly domed button and the back is rather different too.  It measures 3  1/2cm in diameter so is quite big.
