ENAMEL BUTTON

I have not had this button for very long and bought it from a lady who had quite a few enamel buttons for sale and it was a good opportunity. I do not think the colours are particularly pretty but it is a little different having open work and a cut steel border. It is reasonably large at just under 3 1/2 cm and has a metal loop shank.

FABRIC BUTTONS

Here are two cross stitched tartan buttons which I made in 2023. They were very fine to do and took quite some time. My friend Jackie gave me the pattern.

STUDIO BUTTONS

These two Vegetable Ivory buttons were made by Bob Benson, USA in 2012. One has a turquoise stone inserted while the other has a fossil. They both have a finely carved and dyed border. They are getting harder to find and have increased greatly in price. The colours are much brighter in reality.

HORN BUTTONS

These two blonde horn buttons have both a silver inlay in a floral design and are quite nice. They do not show up so well in the photo. They have a metal loop shank and measure 2 cm. I believe they come from the 19th Century.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are six glass buttons of the same design but in different colour schemes and how different that makes them look. They are much brighter in reality. They have a metal four way box shank and measure 2 1/2 cm. I think they may have been made in Czechoslovakia.

NEW BUTTONS

These may be just simple plastic buttons but I love the way the light shines through them showing the stripey effect. They are also bright and colourful. They look very dramatic with the black shadow beside them. Nearly good enough to eat!!

BLACK GLASS BUTTON

I have only a few black glass imitation fabric buttons and this is one of the nicest. The middle section has a slight tint of dirty green and that makes the pink daisy stand out just a little more. It measures a little over 2 1/2 cm and has a metal four way box shank.

MOSAIC BUTTON

I only have two Mosaic buttons; this one and a tiny one. They are very cleverly put together with tiny pieces of glass and it must be time consuming. It is nice and colourful with a flower in the centre. It is set in silver and has a loop shank. I think it was probably made in Italy.

ENAMEL BUTTON

I have had this enamel button for quite some time and still like it. The black background with the cut steels is quite striking and of course the pink and blue flowers stand out well. It measures just under 3 cm and has a metal loop shank.

COCONUT SHELL BUTTONS

Here are three different Coconut Shell buttons, They have been painted in various colours and designs. I have quite a few of these buttons and love the way they make a simple button look more interesting. They have been in the shops for many years. They seem to be mainly sew through type.
