GLASS BUTTON

This is the final glass button from Tokyo, Japan.  It has blue and green paintwork also with a blackened back.  There is a lot of gold lustre on the front and I think the overall effect is very pleasing.  It has a metal four way box shank and measures 2  1/2 cm.

GLASS BUTTONS

These Glass buttons were bought recently in Japan for me.  They all have some gold lustre and are very well finished.  They look nicer than the photo portrays.  They measure 2 cm.

CERAMIC BUTTONS

These three Ceramic buttons are rather simple in design and I like their hand made look and feel.  They are new to my collection having been bought in Tokyo, Japan by my friend Di.   I wonder where they were made?

PAINTED GLASS BUTTONS

Here are two more Coloured Glass buttons bought in Tokyo, Japan by my friend Di.

One has a lot of gold lustre with yellow and green.  The back is painted black.  The larger one at 3 cm. is also yellow and green but the back has been left clear.  It shows the different effect that is achieved by painting the back black.  They are rich looking.

FABRIC COVERED BUTTONS

Here is a group of fabric covered buttons with various fabrics of years gone by.  They are made in various ways with different backs e.g. metal back with pad shank, metal back and loop shank etc.

It would be interesting to be able to identify their age by the style and fabric design.  They just make a colourful picture I think.  I was given them recently.

MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTONS

Here are two Mother of Pearl buttons that I purchased recently.  They each have a nice geometric design carved on them.  Mother of Pearl buttons have a certain charm about them with the variety of colours that shine in them in the light.
