Here are three Celluloid Back or Victorian Celluloid buttons of which I am rather fond. They are all in a neutral to light brown shade and make a nice trio. Each has a different decoration, a japanned back and a metal loop shank. They measure a little over 3 cm.

Here is a more modern enamelled brass button featuring a green dragon outlined with gold which contrasts nicely with the black and orange background. It is new to my collection and I just liked the colours; strong and vibrant.

Here is a metal picture button showing two children under a tree. I do not know what they are doing as they appear to each be holding a stick. It has been tinted black and is set into a white metal rim.

This enamelled brass button is a Paris back. The white panel in the centre features tiny pink and blue flowers which show up nicely amid the gold scrolly work. It measures just over 2 cm. It is new to my collection.

This enamelled brass button was given to me as a thankyou gift. It was a nice surprise. It has a blue butterfly on a black background and is surrounded by a tan border with cut steels. It is so different to any others I have in my collection.

I have just a few Cut Steel buttons in my collection. This particular button is quite open and has different sizes of cut steels in it. As you can see from the back they are rivetted in. It measures 3 1/2 cm so is quite large.

I do love Austrian Tinies buttons and admire all the different designs in such a small button. The variety of materials used also is interesting. They have a japanned back and a metal loop shank. They need to be displayed en masse I think so the velvet frame with the gold insert is quite suitable I feel.

These opp shop finds are of white metal and are quite different being an irregular shape. They have an abstract cut out design on one side and are sew through type. I am not sure what type of garment they would be suitable for, maybe something in plain black.

Here are two groups of perfume buttons. They are named so because of the inclusion of fabric (mainly velvet) in their construction. The idea was to put a drop of perfume on the fabric to give the wearer a pleasant smell. They are from the late 1800s to early 1900s. I have these along with others in a lined box and you can smell them once the lid is opened.

These three buttons are all Paris Backs that it they all have Paris written on the back as well as makers initials. A.P. & Cie stands for Albert Parent & Co. and T.W.&W stands for Trelon Weil & Weil. They are like small metal picture buttons and measure just on 1 1/2 cm.
