
These buttons are special to me as they were given as a Christmas present a few years ago by my nephew Graeme in Melbourne. He especially went to a shop ( I think Spotlight ) and chose them. They were a great surprise and much appreciated.

Here are some metalized plastic buttons in a silver colour. To me some of them resemble black glass buttons with a silver lustre from the early 1900s. Plastics can imitate all sorts of materials these days. I have many of these type buttons as well as gold ones and most of them have been found in opp shops over the years.

Here is a set of Button Covers showing a Cameo lady. Although they are only a synthetic material they still look quite nice. They were quite a unique item and popular around about the 1980s. As you can see they open up and slide over a plain existing button and snap shut thus altering the appearance of the garment.

Here is a group of old fabric covered buttons. It is interesting to look at the various fabrics and compare them with the brightly coloured fabrics of today. The second picture shows some of the different backs of fabric buttons. You can still buy button making kits and they are different again. Nothing stays the same!
