This Studio button is of lampwork glass and was made by Teresa Rarig from USA. She has signed it in gold paint at the top. It is very colourful and looks much better in reality. I do not know the age of it. It has a metal loop shank and measures 3 cm.
I guess this button is catagorized as a Gay Nineties button. It is of white metal and has several coloured stones embedded in it. The border is quite a delicate design. It is backmarked GESETZLICH GESCHUTZT which in German translates as protected or in our language patented. It measures 4 cm so is a nice size.
Here are two sets of Disney buttons made in Taiwan and China for Dress it Up, a Jesse James Company. They were packaged in USA. They are plastic and depict Mickey and Minnie Mouse in three different stances. They are rather cute and just a bit of fun. I bought them in 2016.
Here is an original card of Reproduction buttons put out for La Mode. They are metal buttons with a lady’s face in the Art Nouveau style and are reproductions of buttons circa 1900 – 1910. I purchased them along with several other cards in a craft shop in Bendigo in 2010 when they were first put out. They were made in Italy and produced for a very old button manufacturing company Blumenthal Lansing Company from USA. I originally saw them advertised in a Craft magazine and had some trouble tracking them down and was thrilled to eventually find them.
I love this button; it is new to my collection. It is of yellow glass with brown markings and is an oblong shape. It has a brass four way box shank and measures 3 cm x 1 1/2 cm
Here are three plastic (probably casein) buckles in black and white which was very popular in the 1920s-30s. They would be very striking on a black and white patterned cotton dress. There were lots of buttons made in a similar style of which I have quite a few. I like them.
This silver buckle is rather pretty with it’s Art Nouveau design of fuchsias. My guess is that it is a Nurse’s buckle from the early 1900s. I have seen them on Antique shows on TV in that style.
Here is a trio of little red wooden clog buttons. They have a simple flower design painted on them and have a small brass loop shank. I do not know their age but think they are fairly old. They measure 1 1/2 cm in length.
Here is a pair of small white glass buttons with a self shank. The design is very fine with tiny flowers in the centre. One is done in black and the other one gold.
These two buttons are of the same design showing a horse and rider. I guess they may be of Bakelite and the central disc is brass. They are probably from the 1920s – 30s and may have been worn on an overcoat.
