SALES REP CARD

Here is a Button Sales Rep Card displaying buttons for sale in the 1996 – 97 period. Some of the buttons are metal and others plastic. It is interesting to have the years of their production.

BEATRIX POTTER BUTTON

I am a fan of Beatrix Potter and have read several books about her life. The Tales of Peter Rabbit was her first children’s book and here is a resin realistic button depicting an illustration in that book. What great detail.

BUTTON COVERS

Here is a set of six button covers featuring a cameo ladies head. They were used to “dress up” a plain button by sliding it behind the button and clicking it shut. What an inventive idea. They were very popular in the 1980’s.

GLASS BUTTONS

These two clear glass buttons have a gold swirly pattern painted on them. They have a self shank and measure a little over 1 1/2 cm.

METALIZED PLASTIC BUTTON

Here is a modern metalized plastic button with an unusual design. To me it appears to be a modernistic face made with a simple swirly line down the middle of the button. It has several dots around, one appearing as an eye.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Here are two lovely tan coloured celluloid buttons. They feature a geometric design of squares in gold which are very striking. They measure 1 1/2 cm.

WOODEN BUTTONS

These two wooden buttons are new and I have just bought them. The bright colours took my eye and I needed a cheer up. They have a really high gloss and measure a little under 2 1/2 cm.

PLASTIC BUTTON

Here is a rather unusual green plastic button which has been squashed in the centre giving it an odd shape. It has a brass flower shaped escutcheon in the middle which forms a loop shank at the back, Lots of buttons aren’t pretty and this one falls into that category but it is certainly different.

WOODEN BUTTON

This is quite a large wooden button measuring a little under 4 cm. It has a plaid like pattern in red and blue, is dome shaped and has a self shank. I guess it would have to be a coat button.
