This button on it’s original card was just given to me by a friend recently. It is a modern metalized plastic button with a red plastic “gemstone” and is quite large at 3 1/2 cm.

Here is a tin button with an embossed flower in the centre. The background is finely lined which makes the plain petals stand out. It has a metal loop shank.

This is a moulded Celluloid button in the form of flowers. It is of pastel shades and has a self shank. I guess it is from the 1930’s – 40’s.

Here are two caramel coloured plastic buttons which have been inlaid with blue plastic and white metal. One is a sew through type and the other has a brass loop shank. They measure 1 3/4cm and have a look of the 1930’s – 40’s about them.

Here are two black glass buttons once again with gold lustre which was very common. Both have a floral inspired design. One is completely covered in gold and the other is a nice balance of black and gold. They measure 2 1/2 cm. They are hard to photograph which is a pity because I have some really lovely black glass buttons which I would love to share.

Here are three modern white metal buttons in the form of a cross. They are perfectly plain and have a metal loop shank. They come from an Opp shop.

These two black glass buttons with a silver lustre are beautiful but don’t show up well in the photos which is a pity. One has a scalloped edge and a flower in the middle. The other is a sort of Art Nouveau design with groups of little flowers. They both have a metal four way box shank and are from the early 1900’s.

Here is a group of old plastic buttons of varying sizes, designs and colours. I do not know their exact age but I still like them. The colours are much more subtle than the plastic buttons of today.

Both of these buttons have a geometric design, one being of a fawn colour. The other one has been painted black and rubbed back revealing the white underneath which is very effective. They are both sew through type.

This is a copper button and has quite a pretty design with two flowers and a leaf. It did not photograph very well. It has a tin back and measures just under 2 cm.
