From the 1990’s period these two buttons are quite showy with the black and gold. Their designs are rather fancy and would look great on the right outfit.
METAL PICTURE BUTTON
Here are two metal picture buttons which are new to my collection. I guess they have a story behind them though I do not know it. They depict a man wielding a flag. They are brass and measure 3 1/2 cm.
GLASS BUTTON
This button actually looks nicer than the photo shows. It is of navy blue glass and has two panels with a diamente look in silver lustre. It has a self shank and I would suggest it is from the Art Deco period.
POTTERY BUTTON
This pottery button was made by Bill Cotching of Don, Tasmania. I purchased it recently while on holidays. It has a real hand made look about it and measures 3 cm.
WOOD AND PLASTIC BUTTONS
Here are four wooden buttons with a plastic disc inserted into the middle. There are two different colour combinations. They measure 3 cm.
WOODEN BUTTON
This wooden button is rather chunky and is decorated with two strips of tin on the top. I guess it may be from the 1940’s period and was probably worn on a coat.
METAL BUTTONS
I got this group of brass buttons in Tasmania and was pleased to get them. They picture a deer and I guess they may be Hunting Club buttons. They measure just over 2 cm.
FABRIC AND BRASS BUTTONS
I find these buttons fascinating. They are covered with black fabric and have a brass filigree centre featuring tulips which are rather nice. They are a little under 2 1/2 cm.
GLASS BUTTONS
These glass buttons are a dull dark brown and have little dots of coloured paint in the centre. They have a self shank.
ORIGINAL BUTTON CARD
I purchased this button card recently in an Antique shop in Tasmania. It has twelve pearl buttons and is in very good order. The artwork is effective with peacocks depicted in pleasing colours on the sides.
