Last Sunday I went for a drive out to Dookie ( about half an hour away ) for an outing. It is the only close bit of hilly country to where I live in Shepparton. It is a farming community and the soil is always a nice colour and looks different in the various seasons and of course times of day. I like to get some photos of the landscape as well as other subject matter like the rusty fence wire and the lichen on the post and rail fence which was actually at Shepparton East on the way home.

I hope you have enjoyed a change from buttons. I really enjoy all things in nature.

This wooden button has been painted black and has some coloured lines painted on the sides. It is concave and is a sew through type. It measures 2 1/2cm.

Here are two groups of Blazer buttons which have been used for many years. They feature yachts, horses, shields and crowns all commonly used in this type of button. They are white metal some with black paint on the background and all have a loop shank.

Here we have three “Fabric” ( a general term ) buttons from years gone by. The term covers all fabric, beaded, crocheted , stitched and braided buttons. These buttons were probably used on coats or fur capes. Black and brown were popular colours of the day.

Over the years heads have been used on many types of buttons be they metal, lithograph, porcelain, or plastic etc. These two metal buttons are modern, each with a different head. I do not know who they represent.

I have just embroidered these two buttons recently. They are enjoyable to do and can just make up part of my button collection.

Here is a group of Pressed Plastic buttons from the 1930’s. The designs are many and varied; even a bird in the bottom left corner. I like the subtle colours that they used back then for buttons.

Here is a group of various coloured and designed glass buttons. They just make a colourful picture and are of no special significance.

Here are three typical Blazer buttons. The subject matter of yachts, shields etc. are very common in this type of button.

Coloured clear glass buttons were very popular a few decades ago. They were plain, moulded or cut and facetted giving them a sparkly look. Here we have four different colour schemes each with a variety of buttons both in design and size.
