HEADS ON BUTTONS

Buttons depicting heads can be very interesting.

This group of buttons are all so different.  There is one lady wearing a hat which I think may not be as old as the others.  One has a border of cut steels.  Another one has a very fancy head dress which must be native to some country of which I do not know.  These buttons are all under 1  1/2 cm.

COLOURFUL BUTTON

What a lovely contrast of colours in this button making it quite stunning.

Orange and purple are good complimentary colours and the yellow outer ( I think it is Celluloid!)  is a great foil.  I think the centre may be painted brass. It  has a japanned back.  I really like it.

NEW BUTTONS

Mainly imported from Italy, Germany and Switzerland, these buttons were all purchased new in 2011 at The Button Shop in Malvern.

I had great fun choosing buttons from the hundreds in boxes displayed along a wall.  They are all very good quality buttons.

This is only a small sample of what I bought.   Some more another time!

BUTTONS FROM THAILAND

I bought these new buttons at an old market in Bangkok, Thailand in March,  2014.

They are mainly synthetic I think, having diamentes incorporated into their design.  Two are made from black braid.

Whether they are actually made in Thailand, I am not sure but as they are glitzy they may well be.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well, 2017 is drawing to a close and it has gone so quickly.

I like to have lots of interests and friends to help things to run smoothly.  That is what makes life more interesting.  This year has been quite good to me.  Lots of outings with friends or visiting them.  My friends all have different interests which I can share.  Opp shopping, antiques, button collecting, photography, drawing, just to name a few.

Of course the most important thing is sharing. I always say that a problem shared is halved and a pleasure shared is doubled.  Well that is my story and I am sticking with it!!!

I wish all a Happy and Healthy New Year.  May we find some good buttons along the way!!

HO, HO, HO!! IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME

Well, it is that time of the year.  2017 is drawing to a close and yesterday was Christmas Day and we all got together for a fun time together.  We had lovely salads and various meats with plenty for all, not to mention the bon bons and cool drinks.  I must admit that a cup of tea quenches my thirst best on a hot day.  The iced drinks are nice while you are drinking them.  Christmas pudding and brandy custard was not far behind.  It is a nice chance for me to see my nieces and nephews too as they are not local.  Of course with teenagers around there were lots of Electronics going.  What a different world.  A pleasant time was had by all and they all wended there way homewards at the close of the day.

MICRO MOSAIC BUTTON

This button is small being 1 1/4 x 1 cm.  It has multi coloured pieces of glass set into which has then been set into brass.  The side view shows the pretty scolloped edge.  It has a backmark of T.W. & W.,  PARIS.

BATCHELOR BUTTONS

As there was no sewing needed to attach these buttons they were given the name of Batchelor Buttons.  They have a special spring mechanism at the back to enable the back to come off so it then can be attached.  The group shown has one brass button with an engraved floral design.  Two have a stone set in brass and the other also with a stone, claw set into a white metal.  In the close up you can see the decorative claws holding it in.  I think it looks a very good quality button.  Three of these buttons have a “West” Reg’d No. or Patent marked on the back.  The rising sun is the West trade mark.
