Buttonsplus

Here is another Opp Shop find from my holidays. It is a white metal button picturing a deer in relief. It has had black paint applied and rubbed back making it stand out nicely. It is quite large at just under 3 1/2 cm.

Here is an original complete button card of 24 Exclusive Pearl buttons. They are size 14 which is under 1 cm.

I have recently got these two buttons in an opp shop while on holidays. They are plastic and have a stylized cat picture on each. They are sew through type.

I have just been on holidays with my friend Margaret and she took me to quite a few opp shops in various small towns. It is always fun to hunt for buttons in the hope of finding a treasure. I didn’t have that much luck but in amongst them were a few glass, ceramic, old plastic, celluloid etc. I still keep some just as opp shop finds of the time and they will be of more interest in years to come when comparing them to the current buttons of the time.

This modern plastic button has a highly domed shape. It has an odd pattern in mauve, green and gold on a black background and is rather pretty. It is another opp shop find from a few years ago.

Here are three blue plastic coat buttons maybe from about the 1950’s. They are sort of concave and have lines cut away on one edge. They measure a little over 3 cm.

This button was made in 2018 by Di Teasedale from Shepparton. It is suggestive of a stained glass window in numerous bright colours broken up with black lines. It measures 3 cm.

I bought these two buttons new in 2017. They are of some type of plastic and are multi coloured with a black linear pattern in swirls and curves. They would need to be on a plain fabric as they are quite busy.

This button was made in Italy and is a bright lime green colour. The design is quite unusual with a series of several different sized holes placed at random throughout. It measures over 3 1/2 cm.

This is a Cameo style plastic button in traditional colours. It shows how plastic can imitate many different materials. It has a plastic shank glued onto the back.
