Buttonsplus

This button is 3 1/2 cm in diameter and is of black plastic with a grey/blue triangle of Celluloid in the middle. It is a sew through type and probably from the 1930’s. I guess it is an overcoat button.

Here are three different coloured glass buttons with the same squirly lines of bright colours painted on them. They are very effective and would brighten up any garment. They have self shanks.

This hand painted wooden button has a sort of Art Nouveau floral design. The pattern has been pressed into the wood and it has a basket weave type textured background. The paintwork is in a reasonably good condition.

Here are two very pretty oval shaped glass buttons. They have a flower painted on a white ground in the centre. The outside spaces have been painted blue which compliments the pink flower nicely. They have a self shank.

Here are two groups of Austrian Tinies buttons. They are under 1 cm in diameter and are made of metal some of which is tinted. The details in the little flowers are so fine. They have a domed Japanned back with a metal loop shank. I admire these buttons especially for their workmanship.

Here is a moulded white glass button depicting a mill by a stream. Brown paint has been applied and rubbed back giving a good effect. It measures a little over 2 1/2 cm and has a brass loop shank.

Here is another realistic metal button this time with a frog on a leaf. It measures 2 3/4 cm so is a reasonable size. The moulding is well done and quite realistic.

Here are two realistic glass buttons in the shape of Japanese lanterns. They both have silver lustre on the top and bottom and the green one has some Oriental decoration on it. They have a self shank and are quite fascinating.

This is a realistic metal button depicting an insect sitting on a leaf. It has good detail. I’m not sure that I would want an insect button on a garment of mine but it is interesting anyway.

This square button measures 3 1/2cm so is reasonably large. It is of orange plastic and has a cream band of Celluloid diagonally across it. I think it may be from the 1930’s.
