This is a nice Applejuice Bakelite button which I have just acquired. It just has a simple design and the colour is of course Applejuice yellow. It has a metal loop shank and measures a little over 2 1/2 cm.

Here is a Celluloid button in a dark brown colour. It is also new to my collection. It has a celluloid shank glued to the back.

I have a Surveyor’s map drawer cabinet to hold many of my buttons. Here are two pictures of my black glass with silver lustre buttons. I think that they look good en masse.

Here are three Austrian tinies buttons that have just been given to me. I appreciate the fine detail in the making of these buttons. They are fascinating. They are under 1 cm in diameter and have a japanned tin back which is typical in their construction.

This button card was given to me recently and it is in very good order. It is by Beutron and I think is from the 1950’s. On the back is advertised to collect these cards to paste into a special free Beutron Nursery Booklet. It says to include a threepenny halfpenny stamp for postage.

My friend Jackie gave me these buttons yesterday. She keeps a look out for them for me. There were a few treasures amongst them which is always a thrill. The saying goes ” Small things amuse small minds.” Well is the case of buttons and me this is true.

I belong to a small private group of Button Collectors and we meet at each others homes once a month. It is always an enjoyable afternoon and we share our new finds and have a challenge topic. It was yesterday and our topic was Beetle and Insect buttons. Here are just a few of our buttons. They include plastic, metal, glass and ceramic and three are realistic buttons. It is always a challenge to find buttons of the topic chosen and we don’t very often have many double ups. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon finished off with a cup of tea.

Last Sunday I went for a drive out to Dookie ( about half an hour away ) for an outing. It is the only close bit of hilly country to where I live in Shepparton. It is a farming community and the soil is always a nice colour and looks different in the various seasons and of course times of day. I like to get some photos of the landscape as well as other subject matter like the rusty fence wire and the lichen on the post and rail fence which was actually at Shepparton East on the way home.

I hope you have enjoyed a change from buttons. I really enjoy all things in nature.

This wooden button has been painted black and has some coloured lines painted on the sides. It is concave and is a sew through type. It measures 2 1/2cm.

Here are two groups of Blazer buttons which have been used for many years. They feature yachts, horses, shields and crowns all commonly used in this type of button. They are white metal some with black paint on the background and all have a loop shank.
