One of these head buttons is metalized plastic ( No 3 ) and the other two are actually metal.
I do not know exactly who they represent although one is from Roman or Greek Mythology. They are interesting anyway.
BUTTONS WITH HEADS
VEGETABLE IVORY BUTTONS
We have here six different vegetable ivory buttons, some being carved and dyed. They all have a self shank.
To me they are a very versatile button. Many have been made over the years.
I have also pictured some Tagua Nuts from which this “Vegetable Ivory” is made. I have mentioned this previously.
SURPRISE !!!
Buttonsplus has it’s name because buttons are mainly the subject matter. Plus means I can pop in anything that takes my fancy at the time and just for a small sidetrack. One does not know what is around the corner so sidetracks are sometimes fun. That is how I feel anyway. As the old saying goes “A change is as good as a holiday.”
EUROA TOWNSHIP & SURROUNDS
After all the heat we have had it was lovely to get out and about in the fresh air and go for a drive. Terry and I went to Euroa (about 3/4 hour drive away) towards the hills. We bought some lunch at the Bakery and went down to the creek which runs through Euroa and sat at a picnic table to eat, then going for a walk in the park. It was beautiful with a lovely cool breeze. Oh! to be able to breathe again. We then drove along the creek a little way having a few stops for photos; how nice. Before coming home I went to the opp shop and got some buttons, also picked some Sales Rep original cards of buttons that the lady showed me out the back. She has to hold them for a few days and then I will be able to go over again and buy them. I was just in the right place at the right time and because I told her that I was a collector she invited me out the back to look. We then came home for a nice cup of tea.

GLASS BUTTON
This yellow glass button is nice and bright and quite pretty with the band of white enamel and little flowers.
It has a four way metal box shank and is an unusual shape. Yellow glass buttons are not as common as other colours; probably like orange, not being a popular colour. To me though it is a happy colour and would look lovely on the right garment.
METAL BUTTONS
DISNEY CHARACTER BUTTONS
Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse are the characters on these three painted metal buttons.
They were produced in the 1940’s in Australia. Their diameter is just under 2 cm. They each have a tin back and shank.
GLASS BUTTON
This button with a combination of grey and green with some gold has a pleasing Art Nouveau design.
It has a metal four way box shank making it quite old. It is just under 2 cm.
TIN BUTTONS
From the Art Deco period these three buttons are made from tin.
The coloured background in them is Celluloid I think although the black one may be painted tin. They all have a tin back and range from 1 1/2 to 2cm.
WOODEN BUTTONS
I find these wooden buttons rather lovely with the toadstools painted on them.
I am fond of toadstools, fungus and the likes so these really appeal to me. They have a nice natural look about them.
PAPIER MACHE BUTTON
This button is quite small at under 2 cm in diameter.
It is made from Papier Mache and has an inlaid shell flower pattern. A metal loop shank is fitted into the back.
