CINNIBAR BUTTON

Here is a Cinnibar button and buckle both in the common colour of red. They both have been carved in a floral design and are the only example of this type of button I have. It is just interesting to have one example in my collection even though I do not find them lovely.

OLD TUBES OF BUTTONS

Here are some original tubes of Astor buttons maybe from the 1930s or 40s. It was good when you could just take the exact number of buttons you needed for the project. Nowadays a lot of buttons are sold in packets of 2, 4 or 6 so you have to buy an extra packet just for that extra one. Changes are not always for the better.

MINI CHARM STRING !!

Here is part of the fun I have going through Opp Shop jars of buttons. In 2010 I found a string of buttons tangled up in a jar of buttons. I untangled them and rethread them the same way to restore them. Some child has obviously played with Gran’s tin of buttons and had fun threading them. Many people have a similar story to this and I just wonder to whom these belonged. It is raining today and that would have been a good rainy day’s activity. The buttons are ordinary but oldish.
