These four leather buttons are modern and all have stitching around them.
The square ones are just a little different. Three are sew through type with eyelet trim while the other one has a metal loop shank. They are quite large at 3 cm.
This week I have had two “must haves” for my button room.
One is a little metal sign that says “Cute as a Button.” The other I actually got at a Second Hand Shop where I visit most weeks. Who would want it other than a Button Collector I do not know. It is a blue Ceramic plaque of a button. I think I was meant to have them.
Here we have two groups of old plastic buttons. They are all of a domed shape, the first group being plain. The second group have patterns on them. They are a variety of sizes.
Both of these buttons are tinted brass in a rusty red colour.
One has a floral design with a type of shell shape encircling a bird. The other one has a little girl’s face within a circle added to a leafy design. They both have a Japanned tin back and metal loop shank and measure approx 3 cm. I think they are both lovely.
Here is yet another braid covered button. It has a black painted tin back with a metal loop shank and measures just under 2 1/2 cm. It would have been a time consuming task.
These two buttons are modern and were also in my parcel from England. They have a flower shaped escutcheon in the middle and measure 2 1/2cm.
This button is covered with black woollen fabric and has some stitchery in the middle. The back is completely covered with fabric so has no shank as such. It has been very well made and I think it may be quite old.
These buttons are of metal with a filigree type outer pattern.
They are modern and my friend got them in an English opp shop. They have a loop shank and measure just over 2 1/2 cm.
My friend found these fabric covered buttons in an opp shop in England recently.
The mauve and white one has the back covered with material which is a little unusual. The brown and mustard one has a tin back and wire shank. It is fun to have buttons from opp shops in another country.
Here is a jazzy celluloid button in a fawn colour with a brown section with white spots. It is not very big at approx 2 cm X 1 cm. I think it would really enhance a garment in neutral or earthy colours.
