OLD PLASTIC BUTTONS

This group of black plastic buttons have had a pearl coating of silver colour which really sets them off.  It gives them a stripey look because of the ridged lines radiating from the centre.  They measure 1  1/2 cm.

METAL BUTTON

This metal button is nice with a decorative border of gold circles and fleur de lis pattern.  Some clear glass stones are set in the middle.  The photo does not show it at it’s best.

The back is black with a loop shank.  It measures a little over 3 cm.

PLASTIC BUTTON

This plastic button is modern (another opp shop find)  The purple and green on the black ground is very nice.  It has an irridescent look.  I love purple and green.  It measures a little over 1  1/2 cm.

METAL BUTTONS

All of these buttons have been bought in opp shops over the past 10 – 12 years.  I like their look.

Group one are all small white metal buttons measuring 1  1/2cm.  Their designs are simple and pleasing.  Group two are also of white metal although much larger, one being heart shaped. Group three are of the same material but with more intricate designs.  All of these buttons appear to be of a similar period although I don’t really know how old they are.

BOXED SET OF BUTTONS

This set of six silver buttons were made in Siam  (now Thailand)

They feature elephants, a popular symbol on many Thai items.  The elephant may be their National Emblem, I am not sure.

ENAMEL BUTTONS

Here is a group of nice bright yellow enamelled brass buttons.

They look smart just having two gold lines and edge, nice in their simplicity.  I got them in the local opp shop and they are very well made.

METAL PICTURE BUTTON

This button is floral with brass leaves and flowers  over a silver tin backing.  A large brass flower is within the circle at the top.

It has a brass back and measures just under 4 cm.

PERSPEX AND METAL BUTTONS

I feel these buttons are rather jazzy with the wavy lines in the clear perspex.  It has been achieved by an indented pattern on the back and a coating of silver paint.

It never ceases to amaze me of all the thousands of designs and how they are created.  These buttons are just under 3 cm.
