I think that this open work white metal button may represent an Eidleweiss flower. It is a good design and very artistic. At 3 cm it is a good size.

OLD PLASTIC BUTTONS
I like these buttons with the pearlized mesh type centres. They are the only two colours I have although I think other colours were made.
I believe they come from the 1950’d period.
OLD METAL BUTTON
This old metal button interests me although I know nothing about it.
To me it could have been dug up from the ground. If only it could talk. It is a little battered; maybe it is very old. Who knows!!
LEATHER BUTTONS
These plaited leather buttons were very popular in the 1960’s & 70’s.
They can still be sometimes found in the opp shops. Some of them have a leather shank incorporated in the plaiting process and some have a metal loop shank. They looked great on men’s tweed sports coats.
METAL BUTTONS
These white metal buttons are all very heavy and chunky. They appear to me to be pewter but I don’t really know.
One is a flowery design and another a swirly pattern. The flower one is backmarked LANDICO. The middle one is very deep and an unusual shape and pattern.
They all seem crudely made as seen by the backs. I have bought them in opp shops in the last 10 – 12 years and don’t know their age
OPP SHOP FINDS
These buttons are some I have got from the local opp shop in 2017.
I regularly go there to see what I can find and put them all in a box marked opp shop finds and the year and end up with quite a lot when the year is over. This little group are some such buttons and are of various materials and designs.
GLASS BUTTONS (LEO POPPER & SONS)
The buttons on this original card were made by Leo Popper & Sons in U.S.A. in the early part of the 1900’s.
They have segments of foil set in the glass giving them lots of colour and glitter which is typical of their buttons. The card says Extra Fine Quality.
BUTTON COVERS
Here is a card of Button Covers picturing Felix the Cat made in U.S.A. Aren’t they so cute!! Of course Felix the Cat was a popular cartoon character from the silent film era, firstly in 1919.
They are used to change the look of a garment by just sliding them over the existing button and snapping them into position. Isn’t that a nifty idea.
METAL BUTTONS (MODERN)
I purchased these two buttons at the opp shop in the last few years. They are both just under 2 1/2cm.
One is pierced with a leafy pattern. The other has a very intricate design embossed on it. They both have some creamish paintwork on them and I think that they are quite attractive.
WOODEN BUTTONS
Both of these buttons are made of wood which has been dyed red.
They both have a simple carved design and are quite large especially the flower like one at 4 cm at the widest point.
