Here is a modern enamel button with a geometric design. It is very colourful and eye catching. It has been gilded making it very bright and shiny. It measures 2 cm. I think it could be from the 1970s.

This is one of my favourite buttons being a Scrimshaw Ivory button featuring a Geisha girl with a sunshade. It is very delicately done in black with just a touch of colour which is very effective. At just under 3 1/2 cm it is a nice size.

Here are three buttons covered with Japanese fabric. The two colourful ones on the left were bought new in 2018. The one on the right which is a little smaller shows Geisha girls and is rather cute. They all have a white metal back and loop shank.

These two buttons were made in 2012 by Bob Benson from USA. They are vegetable ivory and both have a carved border which has been tinted. One has a large turquoise stone while the other has a fossil embedded in it. They are both large measuring 4 cm.

These Celluloid buttons are a little different being square and having no backs. They are quite simple in design in a cream and maroon colour scheme. They were bought in 2014 in an antique shop in Sharlottetown in Prince Edward Island by my friend Olwyn. They measure a little over 2 1/2 cm.

Here is Paul Poiret the French fashion designer from the early 1900s. He was very creative with his fashions as can be seen in the mustard coloured garment in the photo. I enjoyed looking at all his creations on the net.

This group of Passementerie buttons were used by Paul Poiret during the period 1910 to 1925. He was a French fashion designer in the early 1900s. They are rather unique and different metalic threads and beads have been used in their making. I find them quite fascinating with their different shapes and rich colours.

Here are two Art Deco buckles which are rather jazzy and very colourful. They both are brass and have the geometric shaped pieces of glass attached. I can’t quite imagine what type or coloured garments that they would have been used on. The yellow sort of jumps out at you so the fabric would have needed to have some yellow in it. That is my thought anyway.

Here is a box of metalized plastic buttons of various sizes and designs. Some have a central disc of coloured plastic and I think they were made by Beutron. Maybe they are from the 1950s or 60s. There are some nice designs amongst them and they make a nice group.

Here are four Arita porcelain buttons featuring various immortals. I purchased them in 2011. You would certainly not call them pretty but they are interesting. I think they may be part of a set of six. They may come from the 1960s.
