Although a lot of the paint has rubbed off this white glass button I still like it. It is quite large. The design of a Japanese Chrysanthemum is really effective and fills the space nicely. It has a self shank.
CLEAR GLASS BUTTONS
The charm of these buttons is in the cutting of the glass in various patterns. This shows up in nicely against the dark background.
LEO POPPER BUTTONS
These lovely small glass buttons were made in USA by Leo Popper & Sons in the late 1890’s or up until 1915. They are the only three that I have in my collection. They are always colourful and glitt ery in the Button books. They have a metal loop shank. The yellow one was a real find for me as I rummaged in a small dish of dirty old buttons in a junk shop and for $2 got it and a few old plastic buttons. I didn’t know at the time exactly what it was but knew it was glass. When I got out of the shop I couldn’t stop smiling.
WHITE GLASS WITH SILVER LUSTRE
GLASS BUTTON
GLASS BUTTONS
These two buttons are a little bit different being square and so colourful. They are made in Czechoslovakia and are fairly modern. The blue one especially when held up to the light is such a vibrant colour. The design on both is the same but because of the colour choices look different.
GLASS BUTTONS
All of these buttons are purely for decorative purposes only and not to be functional. They have a hole on each side to enable them to be stitched onto the garment. I do not know their exact age but they are quite old. These are the only buttons of this type that I have.
WHITE GLASS WITH MILL & WATERWHEEL
This white glass button also has the design of the Waterwheel in relief but quite differently done to the black button.
It has had brown paint applied all over and then rubbed back to leave the paint in the crevices only.
This too in my eyes is another beautiful button. It also has a brass loop shank.
