METAL PICTURE BUTTON

This Metal Picture button depicts Red Riding Hood and the Wolf from the well known children’s story. The brass centre has very fine detail and is offset with a very decorative border. It is quite large at 4 cm.

CELLULOID BUTTON

Here is a Celluloid button with mottley brown and tan colours. It features a decorative pressed brass disc in the centre. It has a japanned back and metal loop shank and measures 4 cm.

BLACK GLASS BUTTON

This is a black glass button with a silver lustre. It is an Art Deco design and is rather showy. It has a self shank and measures 22 mm.

GAY NINETIES BUTTON

As the name suggests, this button is from the 1890’s. It is brass with a pressed design, some cut out work and topped off with an aqua coloured stone.

CHRISTMAS TIME, 2020

Well, the year is drawing to a close and it is Christmas day in a few more days time. What a year it has been and we look forward to a brighter and better new year. Let us hope for some new button finds to add to our collections. There is always fun in the hunt. Merry Christmas to everyone and may we have good health and much happiness in the new year.

STUDIO BUTTON

Here is a Studio button made by Helen Pappas of Victoria. It is made from dozens of small beads in lovely bright colours, the main one being orange. The design is geometric and very effective.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Both these Celluloid buttons have a varied grey and cream colour. They also both are trimmed with brass, one having a lovely little embossed square in the centre, the other having nine tiny stamped squares making up the design. They have a japanned back and metal loop shank.

CELLULOID BUTTON

Here is a striking Celluloid button in grey, black and metallic colours. It sort of has a leaf design and is quite geometric. I guess it is from the 1930’s. I like it.

BEATRIX POTTER BUTTONS

Here are three porcelain buttons featuring Beatrix Potter storybook characters. She wrote delightful children’s books and did all the illustrations as well. The buttons are quaint and in delicate colours just as her illustrations were done.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are four small Czechoslovakian glass buttons. They are bright yellow with red, blue and green paint design. They have a self shank and measure just 1 cm.
